Basil – Thai (Organic)
£2.00 Add to basketBasil – Thai (Organic)
Irreplaceable, anise-flavoured variety used in Asian cooking on a compact plant that is equally as ornamental as it is culinary . Striking both in flavour and appearance, Thai basil has a more concentrated, spicy flavour than its more well known cousin with notes of anise and liquorice. It has smaller, narrow, pointed leaves with flowers and stems of a deep purple. It’s perfect for Thai green and red curries and stir fries and is resilient to longer cooking methods.

Runner Beans – Emergo (Organic)
£2.85 Add to basketRunner Beans – Emergo (Organic)
A traditional white flowered variety producing an abundance of smooth pods. Emergo is a great variety which produces well even in our unpredictable UK climate. As well as being delicious and easy to grow its white flowers make a beautiful addition to the vegetable patch, especially when grown alongside a red-flowered variety such as Scarlet Emperor.

Lettuce – Ruffled Soul (Organic)
£2.00 Add to basketLettuce – Ruffled Soul (Organic)
Deep red, ruffled leaves, very suitable for repeated harvests. The most attractive lettuce I grew in 2018, it contrasts brilliantly with other leaves in a mixed salad. Bred by Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seed this lettuce is very suitable for repeated harvests since it is slow to bolt and the leaves do not get too big.

Beautiful deep red purple foliage with similar taste and properties to common green basil. Red basil has both ornamental and culinary uses. We use it as garnish or to add colour to salads or made into pesto. It will look great in your garden, not to forget the amazing sweet scent of goodness when you walk past.

Chicory – Radicchio Treviso Early (SM4.10) (Organic)
£2.20 – £6.72 Add to basketChicory – Radicchio Treviso Early (SM4.10) (Organic)
A mid-early Treviso-type radicchio ideal for both salads and cooking (similar in growth cycle to 206TT). Treviso is one of the main centres of radicchio production in Italy.
This variety produces dense elongated heads, of striking deep red and white appearance which can be harvested from autumn.
The leaves make a wonderful addition to raw salads as they are sweeter than some red headed radicchio types. The heads are equally tasty grilled or sautéed as is commonplace in Italy.

Peas – Golden Sweet (Organic)
£2.35 – £5.20 Add to basketPeas – Golden Sweet (Organic)
Vigorous multicoloured plants with green leaves, red-magenta leaf nodes, cream-pink-purple-blue flowers and golden-yellow pods. Golden Sweet makes an unusual attraction in the pea patch. We love the extraordinary colour changes of the flower from cream to purple and blue when they mature. When the pods are still young they’re very sweet and crunchy, as the pods get bigger they’ll become more stringy which makes them better for cooking rather than eating raw.
It was a real pleasure growing Golden Sweet in our pea trial 2018 and observing all the different colours. We found that the whole plant has a golden glow to it once it starts flowering. It was probably one of the tastiest mangetouts that we had when picked young.

Carrot – Lila Lu (Organic) ***NEW FOR 2024***
£1.95 Add to basketCarrot – Lila Lu (Organic) ***NEW FOR 2024***
Lila Lu is a purple carrot on the outside with a vibrant orange interior, sweet and crunchy. This is a modern European breed specifically developed for organic growing conditions. It has a crunchy texture and pleasantly sweet taste, the purple pigmentation is attributed to a higher levels of the potent antioxidant ‘anthocyanin’ alongside the usual beta carotene that orange carrots offer. Carrots have been bred since the 10th century in Asia, whilst we have come to know carrots in their orange standard, their ancestors were yellow and purple, we appear to have come full circle with this ‘new’ variety.

Lettuce – Outredgeous (Organic)
£1.80 – £3.00 Add to basketLettuce – Outredgeous (Organic)
Stunning deep red coloured lettuce with a crisp texture and sweet flavour (this variety was the first plant to be grown in space!). In 2014 Outredgeous became the first lettuce ever to be grown in space on the International Space Station due to its reliability and because it is so easy to grow.
It’s an upright cut salad that forms a loose romaine head at maturity. An outrage of red in your salad bowl makes this a firm favourite for gardeners and growers.

A green winter-hardy butterhead lettuce with great taste and texture. We wanted to include Brighton amongst our lettuces because it is one of the best and biggest winter hardy butterhead types there is. It has glossy dark green leaves and medium-sized heads. Sown in September, it can be cultivated outside or undercover for continuous picking or left to mature for an early spring harvest.

Helichrysum – Strawflower (Organic)
£1.85 Add to basketHelichrysum – Strawflower (Organic)
A beautiful mix of white, pink orange and yellow flowers on plants 40cm tall. Strawflowers (also known as ‘everlasting flowers’) are a beautiful addition to the garden. They are perfectly suited for drying, just cut the stem before they are fully open and hang in bunches upside down in a dry place out of direct sunlight. They are also great as a fresh flower for use in bouquets. We love the bright colours in this mix, they remind us of colourful boiled sweets!
