Leek – Musselburgh (Organic)
One of the hardiest winter leeks, notable for its very thick shanks. Harvested from December to April. Musselburgh is a Scottish heritage variety of leek named after a coastal town near Edinburgh. We love its extremely chunky shanks which can be harvested right through the winter until early spring. Musselburgh is commonly grown for competitions and is said to be descended from a huge French variety called ‘Gros-Court’ which grew to 30cm diameter. We think that might be an exaggeration but who knows?!
