Sweetcorn – Ashworth (Organic)
Short and stocky plants producing cobs of approximately 15cm length with beautiful yellow-golden kernels. This sweetcorn has the flavour of summer. It was developed by Fred Ashworth of St. Lawrence Nursery in New York. The legend is that he chose to develop the sweetcorn of those kernels from the bin that the rats preferred the most. He named it “Rat Selected” but it was renamed in his honour.
‘Ashworth’ was the earliest to crop in our sweetcorn trials in 2018 and it was exceptionally tasty.
