The blue, pink and white solitary flowers appear to sit on a bed of ‘misty’ foliage, hence the common name. The plants get about 50cm high and the blossom is followed by a decorative, inflated seed capsule that also makes a nice addition to cut flower arrangements.

Sunflower – Giant Yellow (Organic)
£2.20 – £4.00 Add to basket This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product pageSunflower – Giant Yellow (Organic)
A very large yellow variety of sunflower, producing impressive blooms up to 30cm in diameter. No surprises here! This is a sunflower that does exactly what it says on the tin. Tall and sturdy plants producing huge single yellow flowers. The flowers are much loved by bees and if you leave the plants over the winter they provide a valuable ecological role as winter bird food (the seeds) and a habitat for many insects (the stems). If you have heavy clay soil, incorporating the remains of the plants into the soil in spring will lighten the soil due its high carbon content.
We always grow loads of sunflowers, dotted in amongst our other crops. They are really easy to grow and bring such a shameless joy to the garden. They are pure flower and nothing else!(Approximate seed count – 30)

Bright shades of blue flowers attractive to bees and other pollinators, great as cut flower as well. A flower that makes every garden happy. Cornflowers produce masses of stunning blue shaded blooms and attract bees and other insects as well. They were once native to European corn fields, but have mostly disappeared from the landscape due to large scale use of herbicides. Today they are mainly fond in gardens and allotments – we grow them in amongst our vegetables.

A herbaceous perennial plant with stunning pink/ purple flowers late into the Autumn. Echinacea is one of the more well-known and studied medicinal plants, and because of overharvesting of wild populations has now become rare in the wild. The flowers are also beautiful in the garden and lovely as a cut flower. It grows easily in this climate, although prefers a well-drained spot as the roots can get damaged in wet winters.
