Crop History

Lettuce is said to have its bitter wild ancestors in the region of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean. There is evidence that lettuces were grown in ancient Egypt more than 6,000 years ago; originally as an oilseed crop and the milky secretion as aphrodisiac. During the Roman era it was already eaten in a similar way to how we know it today: with salt, pepper, vinegar and oil.

There is a very high demand for seed at the moment so we are doing our best to keep up with orders and packeting up more seeds. As such we are only accepting a certain amount of orders per day.

Our online shop will be open from 9am each day and we will close it once we have reached our capacity, we have also had to put limits on the amount of any one variety per order (3) and of total order amount (£50), to try to be as fair as possible to all our customers.

Thanks for your patience - we hope you and your loved ones are fit and healthy during this challenging time.

P.S. we apologise in advance if you happen to be in the middle of placing an order when we shut down the shop, and understand how frustrating this would be, but it will inevitably happen to some
