Not only having its origins there, it also also became the state flower of California in 1890. It is quick to flower and will do so profusely for a long period of the summer until it sets seed. Poppy – Hens and Chickens (Organic)
£2.20 Add to basketPoppy – Hens and Chickens (Organic)
An unusual poppy predominantly grown for its decorative seed heads. This ancient variety is named ‘Hens and Chickens’ due to the interesting formation of the seed head where the main head is surrounded by many tiny secondary seed heads, like a mother chicken surrounded by her gaggle of tiny chicks.
The blooms before the seed heads form are of a redish pink colour and are equally as attractive as the heads. The seeds can also be eaten, so this is a true multifunctional variety.
