A Spanish heritage variety for autumn sowings that produces an abundance of light-green pods early in the season. According to food historian Willam Woys Weaver this variety can be traced back to Vilmorin’s selection of a Spanish broad bean called ‘haba de Sevilla’ in 1885. Super Aquadulce is extra hardy and can withstand cold temperatures. It will produce massive amounts of delicious uniform green pods with large beans. Although especially suited for Autumn sowing, Aquadulce can be sown in early spring for a summer/autumn crop too.
The pods can be eaten as a whole when harvested young and the beans shelled and dried when they’re a bit older. The tops will make an excellent addition to salads or as greens, tasting a bit like a bean and a bit like spinach. Harvesting the tops also takes the energy out of the growing tip and encourages the beans to ripen.

Fast maturing carrot perfect for early sowings. Originally from France but grown in this country for decades as a kitchen garden favourite, this is a classic carrot variety of the half-long type. Reaching up to 17cm in length and 3-4 cm in diameter, it is a sweet, bright orange, blunt, cylindrical root, round at the top and bottom. It has fine texture and delicate flavour with almost no core. It is ideal for early sowings but can delight you with a tasty crop throughout the year as well.
The perfect all-rounder, that does well as bunching carrot, juiced, sautéd, frozen, grated into a salad or just straight from the ground which is when we think they taste the best.

A firm favourite cos lettuce that has been grown by gardeners for centuries. Maureen is a superb selection of Little Gem with resistance to Downy Mildew, tipburn and Bremia BL.
The plants are quick to mature and resistant to bolting. They form neat heads of a brilliant green colour with extremely sweet and flavoursome, crunchy leaves forming a tightly filled heart.
This is our first choice of lettuce, it’s simply one of the best lettuces to grow whether you’re growing it in a garden or a larger scale.

A classic Spanish tapas variety, mild when picked young, very hot if left to mature. Padron is a stand-out favourite pepper variety for us. Traditionally the fruits are picked when small and green before they have developed much heat. If left on the plant a bit longer they will get very hot, and sometimes one slips through the net, hence the Russian roulette associated with this variety.
As the fruits do not need to ripen you can start picking them early in the season so Padron is a good choice for the UK climate where some peppers struggle to ripen in our short and cool growing season.
Pick when the fruits are between 1.5 and 3 inches long, the longer they are the more chance of a hot one!

Large fruits, which remain green when ripe, with attractive yellow striping and excellent taste. In terms of appearance, this does what it says on the tin, but it does it very well. Fruits grow to around 8cm diameter and plants typically produce 6 to 8 fruits per truss. Quite fleshy, with very good taste and looks wonderful with other red and yellow tomatoes on a plate or at market.

This cucumber is amazing, a new favourite, prized for an outstanding sweet flavour, delicious juiciness and crisp, crunchy texture.
Known for its vigorous growth and productivity, this variety makes dark green long and slender fruits. They are mostly straight (when trellised) and uniform with an occasional curve. It is the flavour that is so extraordinary sweet, almost floral and so delicious throughout the season like no other cucumber we’ve tasted. A beautiful crunch and no bitterness even when harvested on the ripe side or towards the end of the season.
Shintokiwa is valued for its disease resistance, a fine choice for the greenhouse as well as outside.

A truly early and abundant hot chilli with good flavour. Plants grow to 60cm high and fruit heavily, with harvesting of typical green Jalapeños beginning in early August, and continuing through into autumn. We thinly slice and preserve ours eating them with Mexican dishes throughout the rest of the year.

A beautiful chard mix of red, pink, orange, yellow and white stalks with contrasting green and maroon leaves. Harvested as baby leaf in less than 6 weeks. Both the tender leaves and stalks are easy to fry, steam, blanch or add to an omelette. This variety of chard is less hardy and doesn’t handle frost as well, so best not relied on as your only winter green.

Stunning deep red coloured lettuce with a crisp texture and sweet flavour (this variety was the first plant to be grown in space!). In 2014 Outredgeous became the first lettuce ever to be grown in space on the International Space Station due to its reliability and because it is so easy to grow.
It’s an upright cut salad that forms a loose romaine head at maturity. An outrage of red in your salad bowl makes this a firm favourite for gardeners and growers.

Delicious yellow-orange cherry tomato with fruits 2-3cm diameter . Santiam Sunrise is without a doubt one of the tastiest tomatoes we have ever encountered. It is Fred’s all time favourite for flavour. The fruits are 2-3cm across, growing on strong, stocky indeterminate vines.
Originally bred by the great Adaptive Seeds in the US as an open-pollinated alternative to the famous Sungold F1. The flavour is intensely fruity with a delicious zinginess. We recommend growing it under cover for best results. A real winner.

A large, beautiful, and delicious hubbard-type pumpkin, with excellent storage qualities . This is a variety bred by Carol Deppe in Corvallis, Oregon in the USA. She spent years selecting for vigour, good cool-soil emergence, small seed cavity and premium flavour. We believe this variety is a serious contender to Crown Prince F1. It is quite a large variety with a crunchy, sweet flavour. They were extremely prolific in our 2018 squash trials and Ronja’s clear favourite in taste. They are great for cooking and even raw they are a real pleasure to munch on.

One of the best chillies for growing in the British climate. Long and pointed fruits, starting green and ripening to red.
This is a reliable, quick growing and heavy cropper producing early fruits that continue to appear throughout the season. It’s a a really excellent variety, bearing long pointy peppers in attractive shades of green, yellow, orange and red.
The distinct heat develops alongside the ripening colour, ranging from 1000-15000 scovilles making it a great multi-tasker in the kitchen. Delicious in chilli jam, perfect for pickling and drying as well as for using fresh, the spicy kick of a yellow hotwax stuffed with cream cheese are legendary for summer picnics. It will happily grow on a sunny windowsill, greenhouse or polytunnel. In some areas of the UK you can grow it outside in a sunny sheltered spot.
