A well-formed, firm-fleshed and smooth-skinned swede, refined in taste and with good keeping qualities. Swede is a very valuable winter vegetable and easy to grow.
Wilhelmsburger is a German variety from 1935 bred for culinary use. Ronja’s favourite recipe for swede is a bake with a creamy sauce and goats cheese. It will also make a great addition in stews or just roasted.

A traditional variety of swede from Devon renowned for its excellent eating qualities. We are super-excited to be able to offer this traditional variety of swede which had been assumed to have gone extinct after being dropped from all the seed catalogues many years ago.
We were thrilled when a local grower contacted us after reading this article (https://wickedleeks.riverford.co.uk/opinion/devon-champion-lost-forever/) and said that he had been stewarding this variety for years, and would we like some seeds?
He said that this fabulous swede had been grown by his family for probably four generations in various farms around Devon, in Ashburton, Bovey Tracy, and Kingsbridge.
