A quirky dwarf variety producing fluffy ultra-double blooms. This unique sunflower is named Teddy Bear due its very soft pompom like blooms with almost no smooth centre. The plants have a branching habit so will produce multiple flowering stems on each plant.

A beautiful variety producing deep purple flowers with a contrasting yellow throat. We love this variety of nasturtium for its attractive pastel purple flowers, which it produces in abundance over a long season.
The flowers are delicious and add a spicy sweetness to salads.

Creamy white disc-shaped fruits with a scalloped edge and fine flavour. The plants with a bushy growth habit make delicious flying saucer shaped fruits, 6 – 7 cm in diameter that are classed as summer squash (don’t store for more than 1-2 weeks). The skin of this variety is white and its flesh cream coloured and delicately flavoured. They are best harvested when young, this will encourage the plants to make lots more fruits too.

A colourful breeding population of carrots featuring a mix of colours including orange, purple, yellow, and combinations of each. This is very much a ‘work-in-progress’ so we can’t guarantee any specific mix as we are figuring it out ourselves too.

An open pollinated breeding population of flower sprouts. This variety has been developed by the folks at the BC Eco Seed Coop in Canada. Here’s what they have to say about it:
“About 10 years ago we crossed a Brussels sprout with a variety of ornamental hybrid and open pollinated kales. Since then we have been selecting for a very winter hardy white laced kale that produces beautiful white sprouts in the winter and early spring. From a June planting, the large green leaves can be used as you would collards in the late summer and fall. After frost, the small inner white streaked leaves develop a sweet flavour and can be added to salads. From mid winter to early spring white sprouts can be harvested from the stalks to stir fry or use in salads. This is still a diverse landrace with a fair bit of variation in leaf shape and colour as well as distribution of sprouts on stalk. We have had fun trying to tame and refine this breeding project over the years, and wanted to release it so you might try your hand at seed selection too.”

A member of the mint family, Chia can grow up to 5 feet tall and can be sown directly outside after the risk of frost has passed. Chia seeds are rich in dietary fibre and Omega 3 oils as well as being a great source of protein.

A breeding population of spinach created using four of our favourite varieties – sow it and see what you get!. We crossed Giant Winter, Matador, Abundant Bloomsdale and Merlo Nero to create this genetically diverse variety (sometimes known as a flock). It’s currently in the F1 generation which means the first generation after the original cross was made. If you save seeds from these plants they will be the F2, and then next time F3 etc.
Give it a go and breed your own spinach variety adapted to your local conditions.
