A Spanish heritage variety for autumn sowings that produces an abundance of light-green pods early in the season. According to food historian Willam Woys Weaver this variety can be traced back to Vilmorin’s selection of a Spanish broad bean called ‘haba de Sevilla’ in 1885. Super Aquadulce is extra hardy and can withstand cold temperatures. It will produce massive amounts of delicious uniform green pods with large beans. Although especially suited for Autumn sowing, Aquadulce can be sown in early spring for a summer/autumn crop too.
The pods can be eaten as a whole when harvested young and the beans shelled and dried when they’re a bit older. The tops will make an excellent addition to salads or as greens, tasting a bit like a bean and a bit like spinach. Harvesting the tops also takes the energy out of the growing tip and encourages the beans to ripen.

Easy to grow large cherry tomato, widely known for its sweet fruity flavour. Gardener’s Delight lives up to its name and has been a firm favourite amongst gardeners for years. Rightly it is an RHS Award of Garden Merit winner and also recommended by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany. Long full trusses of small fruits, sugar-sweet flavour and luscious juiciness.
We love this variety and can’t recommend it enough.

A herbaceous perennial plant with stunning pink/ purple flowers late into the Autumn. Echinacea is one of the more well-known and studied medicinal plants, and because of overharvesting of wild populations has now become rare in the wild. The flowers are also beautiful in the garden and lovely as a cut flower. It grows easily in this climate, although prefers a well-drained spot as the roots can get damaged in wet winters. The new spring growth is also very attractive to slugs and may need some additional protection.

A fantastic and versatile heritage cauliflower suited for all growing seasons. Snowball cauliflower was bred in the 1890s in America, and it has certainly stood the test of time. It produces heads of up to 15cm diameter ready 65-70 days from sowing. It has a mild flavour perfect for cooking but also delicious raw.
The plants are smaller than some cauliflowers and so can be planted closer together. We particularly love this variety due to its flexibility.

Also known as ‘Pot Marigold’. This is the classic calendula, producing abundant large orange blooms over a long season. We love calendula and would never go a season without it. It is really easy to grow and loved by humans and insects alike. There is something magical about finding bumblebees sleeping in calendula flowers early in the morning. The flowers are edible and make a great addition to salads. The petals have good medicinal properties and can be taken as an infusion in hot water or turned into a powerful tincture. Calendula’s medicinal actions include but are not limited to: anti-inflamatory, astringent, vulnery, and anti-microbial.

Flat round yellow onion from Germany with excellent storage qualities. We are excited to be selling this onion originating in the South West of Germany where Ronja is from. This onion also named “Stuttgarter Giants” is of fine flavour and stores well into spring provided that they are kept cool and dry. We recommend growing them in clusters and thinning them out when the plants are spring onion size to be enjoyed as such.

Classic early salad tomato producing an abundance of delicious light red fruits. Matina is a potato leaf variety which crops well both under cover and outdoors. The fruits are golf-ball sized (40-45g) and ripen early in the season. The flavour is a delicious combo of sweet and acid. A firm favourite in the veg patch.

A classic Spanish tapas variety, mild when picked young, very hot if left to mature. Padron is a stand-out favourite pepper variety for us. Traditionally the fruits are picked when small and green before they have developed much heat. If left on the plant a bit longer they will get very hot, and sometimes one slips through the net, hence the Russian roulette associated with this variety.
As the fruits do not need to ripen you can start picking them early in the season so Padron is a good choice for the UK climate where some peppers struggle to ripen in our short and cool growing season.
Pick when the fruits are between 1.5 and 3 inches long, the longer they are the more chance of a hot one!

One of the best chillies for growing in the British climate. Long and pointed fruits, starting green and ripening to red.
This is a reliable, quick growing and heavy cropper producing early fruits that continue to appear throughout the season. It’s a a really excellent variety, bearing long pointy peppers in attractive shades of green, yellow, orange and red.
The distinct heat develops alongside the ripening colour, ranging from 1000-15000 scovilles making it a great multi-tasker in the kitchen. Delicious in chilli jam, perfect for pickling and drying as well as for using fresh, the spicy kick of a yellow hotwax stuffed with cream cheese are legendary for summer picnics. It will happily grow on a sunny windowsill, greenhouse or polytunnel. In some areas of the UK you can grow it outside in a sunny sheltered spot.

Yellow indeterminate cherry tomato that produces lots of small pear-shaped fruits in large trusses. The fresh, sweet taste with juicy pulp and low acidity levels make this a popular tomato variety that will always look good amongst other tomatoes. The plant is a potato leaf type with an open growth habit. This is one of our most productive varieties, it just keeps on giving.
Great in salads and despite the unusual colour it makes a very delicious tomato sauce. However we end up eating most of them straight off the plant as they are so tasty!
